.. excited

November 14, 2008 - 3:18 am No Comments

We are getting a new puppy in the morning. Yeah! I am so excited. She is a pure breed beagle. We’ve been picking names and we are still no closer however, I am pushing for Zoe from Baby Blues and Sesame Street…  We already have a Taco, Zambuka and a Simba. I think Zoe sounds cute. Now, I have to try and convince three men who want to call her either Chain Saw, Skippy, or Regel Beagle. Yikes!!!

8 years today…

November 12, 2008 - 3:03 am No Comments

Momma, photographed to the left with her little sister Cindy, photographed to the right taken many many moons ago.

It’s been 8 long years and I have no words only chokened back tears.  8 years! I’m preparing to watch Law and Order SVU Momma’s favorite tv show and the last tv show we watched together. A couple minutes after midnight that night she was gone. I arrived home from St. John’s a little before 9pm that night, we sat around talking, laughing, sharing slushie Pepsi waiting to watch SVU so we could drool over the hotness that is Christopher Meloni. The episode ended at 11:30 and we headed off to bed. I had taken my bed to the city with me and Mom surprised me with a new bed in the spare room. We took turns calling our kitty Jazz back and forth, I fell alseep for what seems like just a second and just like that I hear my Dad scream.

She had been sick for so very long but I know the night she passed away she was happy and that gives me peace because I would never have been able to deal if I had not been there.  She liked my new hair style, she loved my shiny sexy business suit and my cute little name tag. I refused to change until I arrived home.  I spent 6 hours very uncomfortable but it was worth it to see her expression when I stepped off the bus.

8 years! It never gets easier. I miss my Momma…

Still tired…

November 5, 2008 - 11:35 pm No Comments

After two back to back craft fairs and now the roof being done, I’m pooped, tired and drained. I’m hoping everything will be done within a few days. I hope to get the floors done soon but I think I might have to wait until after Christmas.

The house is still a complete mess. There are boxes and bags and crafts everywhere. I’m trying to get things cleaned up and packed away but it’s not going over too well. I’m still behind.

I have very little soap left. I cannot believe how successful the fairs were. I am very lucky. I have to get everything together for a December sale as soon as possible which means I have to order in my new products.

We are trying to come to a consensus on what we are going to sell. We sold almost everything so it’s hard to choose what we want to use all the time in our store and some for just seasonal periods. I purchased too many different scents and now since they all sold well, it’s hard to pick and choose. I don’t want to keep all the scents in my line until I actually open a store because it will not be cost effective.

……… it never ends

House, Craft Fair and Hiding in the bushes

October 30, 2008 - 2:51 am No Comments

I am so craft faired out and I have three days of it ahead of me this weekend. I’m tired. I worked so much this summer and was so tied to my job that I hardly got a thing done. This past month has been crazy. I think on Sunday night, I’m going to unpack the car, throw everything in the corner for a week and just hide out in the bushes. If you want to talk to me, need me for anything important, by all means, pick a spot and bring me a snack. I will not be moving from behind my bush until I feel better.  It might take a couple days, it may take a week, it may take a month. I’ll pack extra drawers I suppose. haha

All I need to do tomorrow is finish icing my soap cakes, pack up the rest of my bags and price the last batch of candles. These are the new scents: Bayberry & Cinnamon, Caramel Apple Cider,
Chestnut Souffle, Firelight Festival,  Honey Pear Cider, Maple Pumpkin Custard, Mulberry
Spiced Mandarin Pomander, Sugar Plum Wreath, Very Merry Berry and Victorian Christmas. I love the Honey Pear Cider. I even made a batch of soap in this scent as well. It’s so simple and fresh.

We are still waiting on good weather for the guys to come work on the roof. It is getting on my last nerve. I want it done and over with before the snow hits.  After the craziness of the fair is over, I’m hoping to get a little work done on the inside like painting and extreme cleaning. I can’t decide on painting the kitchen and dining room red or a dark brown. I have the red Kitchenaid stuff and want to work with red but I don’t want to overdo it and make it look like a blood bath.

Red for the dining room, dark brown for the kitchen maybe? I hate the old orange yellow cupboards but I’ll have to keep them for a while. Maybe the dark brown will take away the glare of the ugly cupboards? I’m also buying frames to showcase our photographs. The worst part is trying to settle on what to go where. My walls are bare and have been for two years. yikes. It’s sad and depressing but I can’t decide on a color or on decorations. It has finally agitated me so much that it is all I think about. I hate not having a decorated house. I dislike the clutter but you’d never say that if you walked into the house right now. It is a mess of garbage bags, Walmart bags, totes, boxes and sticker backs all over the floor. I’m going to have to take my crafting downstairs to the basement but it isn’t finished and it’s creepy.. haha I just have to get this place tidy once and for all. Hopefully it will be done within the next few weeks, the extreme cleaning at least so we can get the crapets done as well as the sofa and chair cleaned. I’m trying to budget another chair or a love seat for the living room as well. We’ll see how that goes.

I wish we had a great flea market or second hand store around town. I don’t really want second hand stuff but I like some older pieces that look worn. Woods, old trunks, frames, mirrors, key pieces that I am missing. The new modern stuff these days seems kinda cheap.. Maybe it’s just me, but everything is so shiney and fake.

Anyways, I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is set up at the hotel. -gulp- Friday I’ll be there from 10-9pm. Shesh. It is gonna be a long day to say the least. Kill me now!!!!

.. wake me up before you go go…

October 27, 2008 - 3:51 am No Comments

I spent the past couple of days in Grand Bank for the 3rd Annual Trade Show and Holiday Fair and I am way too tired to do much. By the time I got into the car once we had everything packed up and was ready for home, I had trouble even trying to blink. It was a mix of working for the past month, non stop crafting and getting things ready to not getting enough sleep the week prior.  Of course my treshold for excitement is still as bad as it was when I was a kid. My brain will not shut down and I cannot speak or make sentences and I feel kind of feverish. My left shoulder hurts like a mutha’ and I cannot keep my eyes open. Last night, I fell asleep after talking to Lisa which was early in the evening. After that, I don’t remember much until Shaun came to bed and then I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep for hours.  When I would fall asleep I’d have crazy dreams and wake up, fall back to sleep again and put more Deep Cold on my shoulder. Shesh!!! I don’t know if I could handle a craft fair every weekend. I have another one this weekend and I may book a table at the SPCA fall sale as well.  We’ll see how well this one this weekend goes and how my shoulder holds up.  I’ll post photographs tomorrow some time when I get the chance to update and get myself on the go. The roofers are coming in the morning. Thank heavens… I cannot wait to finally have that done. Then at least I can figure out how much money I’ll have left over to paint and do a few things on the inside. I am painting the kitchen and dining room before Christmas no matter what. If I get lucky, I’ll get the hall and living room done and maybe even the kitchen and hall flooring done..  Shaun’s brother Jeff is set to do our carpets so that will be another thing out of the way. I just can’t handle these plain ugly walls. I love beige but it has a cast of pink in them and while I love pink, this color does nothing for me… Dad will freak but if I decide to go with black he is gonna have to deal. No more girlie crap! Yuk!

Off to bed again.. ta ta!

Yeah….

My fingers hurt

October 19, 2008 - 5:04 am No Comments

I made a boo boo. I purchased these bottles on Ebay and poured bath salts into them. Today, I opened a bottle and realized that the bath salts sometimes harden and there was no way possible for the salts to easily be removed from the bottles. I made 50. Grrrrrrrrrrrr   Luckily, I caught this boo boo ahead of time.  I had to spend most of the days cutting the bottom out of the bottles and pouring everything into bags.  The worst part was that I had made gift baskets and had put the salts into them.  I had to untie all the ribbon,  open up the baskets and replace the bottles with bags. “Oh bother!!!!”

I was so tired and frustrated I decided to move the sofa, coffee table and chair into another position in the living room. I finished that and lay down and I don’t remember must else except I woke up when my brother was complaining that the mall was too cold and it was snowing. Shesh!!!!

Tomorrow, I have to finish cleaning up and sort all my craft and trade show stuff. I am going to have a long hard week preparing for Friday…. I’m so paniced. Do I have enough? Do I have too much? What am I going to wear? I hate driving on the highway at night….

I cannot wait until November 3rd when it is all over and I can relax.

Blessed

Making Gingerbreadmen …. Dad and Me

Isn’t my Daddy just the cutest? tehe

Dad and I spent the afternoon making gingerbreadmen out of bread dough. The house smells as if we were in a gingerbread factory and we were locked inside the steam room.. At first the smell was nice but after 5 hours, it’s getting to be a little too much.. gag!!! haha I had to open up all the windows and pull the screen across in the patio doors to try and get the scent to disperse just a little…

Tonight, I’m writing up tags as usual and working on the foot / bath salts mixes. If I get everything done, I hope to tidy everything up a bit. What a mess!!! I have bags and boxes everywhere.  I need a maid.

This is Taco before she went to the puppy spa.

This is Taco when she returned. She needs to be shaved so close because her fur is one big matted mess. In about three weeks she’ll be a little fluffy which is how I like her. Right now, she looks like a seal.. tehe

16 hour days

October 4, 2008 - 3:41 pm No Comments

Crafting is a full time job. I’m working 16 hours a day. Now, I’m getting sick. Argh! Ahhchhoo. Cough.. There’s a frowg in my throat…

The above photograph Follow The Light is now up for sale. I’ve added more photographs there and will be adding more.

I’ve been wrapping all my soap, adding ribbon, tags etc. Yesterday, I made a soap cake and I’ll ice it with soap drizzles next week and just put it into a cake carrier. I plan to cut it, but put it all together on an old cake stand for the fair. Then buyers can purchase slices right off the stand. I think we are doing a cheesecake soap as well.  Shaun is designing that one. He’s the big cheesecake fan. We plan on putting that on a cake stand as well for buyers to take a wedge and go….

I have bath salts almost ready to go. I’m selling it in bags and in containers. I have more lip balm in the works and then I’m finished until after the major fair. I still have to work on a few pieces of jewelry and I have paintings and ornaments to finish and photographs to frame. The last thing I need to do is put all the art and photography in protective sleeves.

It is never ending….

I was added to a treasury and it made the front page
